Hayleys Mobility – Driving Sri Lanka for a Green Future

For over a century, Hayleys Fentons Limited has stood at the forefront of Sri Lanka’s engineering landscape, evolving from its 1919 origins under British engineer Herbert Fenton into a diversified leader in energy, projects, and mobility. Today, through its latest venture, Hayleys Mobility Limited, the company is steering the nation toward a cleaner and smarter transportation era.

“Mobility is one of the biggest contributors to Sri Lanka’s carbon footprint,” noted Mrs. Roshani Dharmaratne, Director – Hayleys Mobility Limited. “By promoting new energy vehicles, we are directly helping the country move closer to its Net Zero target.”

As the exclusive authorised distributor in Sri Lanka for OMODA & JAECOO and SRM vehicles, Hayleys Mobility is redefining the market with an impressive line-up of electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models. Backed by global automotive powerhouse Chery Group, ranked 233 on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 list and China’s No. 1 vehicle exporter for 22 consecutive years the brands combine advanced technology, safety, and luxury with unmatched practicality.

Among the highlights, the JAECOO J7 PHEV delivers a combined range exceeding 1200 km with 20-minute DC fast-charging, while the JAECOO J6 all-electric SUV offers 430 km range and 30-minute charging. The sleek OMODA E5 extends this to 505 km, underscoring Hayleys Mobility’s commitment to performance and design. All vehicles include an eight-year battery warranty and seven year vehicle warranty, supported by genuine parts and after-sales service through Hayleys Fentons’ island-wide engineering network.

“Choosing Hayleys Mobility means choosing long-term reliability,” explained Mr. Hasith Prematillake, Managing Director – Hayleys Fentons Limited. “Our customers enjoy the confidence of a company with over 106 years of trust and engineering excellence.”

Beyond passenger cars, the company’s partnership with SRM expands into commercial transport with the SRM T3 EV Truck, capable of carrying 1.5 tons and charging from 20 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. Hayleys Mobility recently handed over Sri Lanka’s first electric truck to Califolink Logistics, marking a national milestone in sustainable freight transport.

Completing the ecosystem, Hayleys Mobility collaborates with StarCharge Digital Energy to roll out ARTEMIS AC and VENUS / JUPITER DC EV chargers, providing scalable charging infrastructure for homes, workplaces and public stations. The initiative is reinforced by Hayleys Solar, allowing drivers to power vehicles with renewable energy at zero running cost. “Our goal is to build a 360-degree mobility ecosystem where transport and energy work together sustainably,” Mrs. Dharmaratne added.

Looking ahead, Hayleys Mobility plans to expand its vehicle portfolio with passenger vans and cargo models, alongside island-wide showrooms and test-drive facilities to enhance customer experience. A special launch offer includes a free 5 kW solar system (valued approximately around LKR 2 million) with premium EV purchases, further reinforcing the company’s vision for a zero-cost driving future.

“Hayleys Mobility is not just introducing vehicles,” Mr. Prematillake emphasised. “We are building an entire ecosystem that saves costs for the individual, foreign exchange for the country, and protects the environment for future generations.”
